On July 17, a team of 11 from NHDH led by Pastor Fernando, got to be in Taiwan for the "soft launch" of our sister church, New Hope Taiwan, led by Pastor Steven and Joyce Hsiao. It was an awesome experience to be there and participate! A group of about 30 are now meeting every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening for worship services and Bible study, and several small groups and other weekly activities have started as well.
Almost all of the participants in this new church plant are young people who have had little or no church background prior to meeting Pastor Steven and Joyce. Little by little, Taiwanese people interested in the arts, music, and leadership through New Hope Taiwan are finding Christ, getting baptized and beginning to grow in Him.
NHDH is committed to helping this baby church grow to the point where they can feed themselves, and become self-supporting. The goal of both New Hope Taiwan and NHDH is that many churches, in Taiwan and greater China, and a Pac Rim Christian College will be birthed out of New Hope Taiwan in the years to come.
During the next 18 months, NHDH will be supporting NHTW with finances, and by sending teams to help in the areas of music, the arts, video, and leadership development. We are looking for artists, musicians, marketplace leaders, coaches, mentors and others who FEEL A SENSE OF CALL to walk along side and assist this young church, NEW HOPE TAIWAN.
Alex Cheng, NHDH’s first missionary to Taiwan, will be moving to Taipei in late October to serve New Hope Taiwan for at least a year. Please keep Alex in your prayers! Pastor Fernando, Pastor Creighton and Paul Lam will most probably be returning to Taipei in November to work with Pastor Steven and Joyce in areas of church and leadership development.
